Thinking about the future of wildlife? You'll find it here.

Sportsmen for Fish & Wildlife (SFW) is a non-profit wildlife conservation organization of sportsmen members who are interested in preserving and increasing healthy, populations of wildlife throughout the Western United States.

Healthy and abundant game populations require good habitat, protected winter range, aggressive predator management, a committed game and fish agency, and active federal land managers. All of these issues are controlled by politicians who make laws, set priorities and policies, and determine how sportsmen license dollars are spent. To produce large mature animals, there must also be reasonable control of hunter harvest. SFW works with elected officials at all levels—from the community courthouse to the Whitehouse—to improve and protect quality hunting and fishing on our great public lands and waters. SFW members are active participants in wildlife conservation having successfully raised tens of millions of dollars for wildlife that now benefits multiple game species. We have been on the front lines, from the steps of Capitol Hill to the tallest mountain peaks, we are the few who fight for the many. We are sportsmen serving sportsmen and are motivated by our passion for hunting and fishing. We are committed to making every necessary policy and political change to benefit wildlife and sportsmen alike. So, if you enjoy hunting elk, mule deer, moose, bighorn, antelope, bison, wild turkey, and other birds and fish, you need to join our ranks, become a member of SFW, and be part of wildlife’s future.

Wildlife conservation banquets run by SFH attract average and elite hunters, all eager to contribute to protect and enhance wildlife. Dozen of SFH banquets are held each year in Utah, Idaho, New Mexico and Wyoming.

Most banquet attendees come to the events for the possibility of having his or her name drawn to win a once-in-a-lifetime, premium limited entry, or other trophy hunt. Others may bid on one of dozens of premium limited entry deer, elk or other big game tags up for live auction during the events. The Utah San Juan/Elk Ridge elk permit was recently auctioned for $70,000 at an SFH banquet, most of which goes to fund wildlife projects in the same region.

Fellow Sportsmen,

Welcome to Sportsmen for Fish and Wildlife. Over 15,000 sportsmen, and the list grows daily, have joined this aggressive group that produces quality hunting and fishing opportunities in the Western United States.

SFW focuses on habitat protection, enhancement, and acquisition, predator control, and reasonable management of hunters. These three issues combined will produce quality animals on our great public lands.

SFW accomplishes results by empowering you, the local members and chapters, to fix things in your own back yards. SFW will provide you with the political muscle and financial capability to work with game and fish personnel, Forest Service and BLM managers, and private landowners. When bureaucrats provide only excuses, SFW is not afraid to go over people’s heads, from the White House and Congress to the State Capitals and the county commissioners, to get things done. Your full time SFW representatives will work with Federal Agencies, Congress, Governors, Game and Fish Commissions, and Game and Fish personnel to get things done.

Welcome aboard. We want members with strong opinions, with passion to protect our hunting and fishing heritage, and a willingness to get into the fights. Wildlife management and hunting and fishing are controversial contact sports.

However, when you experience that hunt or trip of a lifetime, you will know it has been worth all the effort, especially knowing you have been a part of an organization that leaves things better than we found them, for future generations.

Yours in the great outdoors,

Don Peay Founder, SFW

The mission of SFW is to promote the protection and enhancement of wildlife habitat, assist in providing quality wildlife management programs, educating the public about the role hunters play in wildlife conservation, and perpetuating the family tradition of hunting and fishing.
